Specially Dedicated

Hey my dear friends πŸ™‚ As you may or may not know, I come from a music family. Music is the one thing that has been running in our veins for a lot of generations now, and it has been the one thing that unites us, whether we live in Sweden or Greece.

A couple of weeks back me and my family invited my uncles to join us in a folk night here in Stockholm. I do not normally blog about personal things and specially this kind of music, but this Christmas I made an exception. The night was also live streaming from a folk radio station in Stockholm, so a lot of people might have actually watched it and have already a taste of what went down.

I do not have a lot of pictures because I had a pretty hard time shooting with this lightning, but I decided to share them anyway for you to have a look. πŸ™‚

Have a great day / night my friends, and a super happy new year with your loved ones. Enjoy your warm homes and let’s all be grateful for the things we have, and not for what we don’t. Love, health and happiness come in many forms and the Holidays are for everyone to enjoy. πŸ™‚

The Temperance Movement @ Katalin Uppsala / 2015.12.01

Last night me and my partner in crime had the pleasure to travel to Uppsala and have one more live experience in our little music treasure box. This time the music that we had the chance to experience is the one that I love most in life. A mix of blues, hard rock and garage rock sound, that The Temperance Movement succeed to create to a very remarkable level.

I found out about them a while back through their record label Earache records and as soon as I checked out their tour dates, I knew that we had to be there.

I had been once before to Katalin in Uppsala, but on a totally different gig. This time I think the music and the place matched perfectly. It was a perfect combination in a cold Swedish night.

We arrived early because I wanted to meet the band a while before they hit the stage. They have been in Sweden for quite a few days now and I was curious to find out what they think of it and how it has been treating them so far. Their response and attitude was extremely positive, not only towards me but towards all the people that approached them to have a quick chat before the show. We took a couple of pictures to make sure we have the shots we need except from the live ones, just a while before the lights go down and they come up on stage.

Around 9 and when the place got packed, it was this time again, the time that I love most in life; When your heartbeat starts rising and you know that the music will start filling up the place any moment now. When the band members are going to get out there, they are going to take their place on the stage and they are going to do what they know best. For a lot of people it might be a show. For me, it is creating magic. Creating something special, that you can only live in a certain moment, in a certain place, in a certain day. No matter if you see a band more than once in the same tour, every show is different. Specially when the artists themselves give their all up in there.

Watching some of my favorites like “Be lucky” , “Ain’t no telling” and “Only friend” was something that I had been looking forward to. They actually played a couple of new songs from their upcoming record too, which is going to be released in early 2016.  I absolutely believe that this band is really skilled, the melodic sound along with the intense drum rhythm and the wide range of  Phil’s voice makes you think that they are like  little rough diamonds, real and authentic. I would love to see them play again and why not in a bigger venue surrounded by blues mood and rock attitude. Like trouble is our “only friend”.

I don’t really know if you guys can relate to my words every time I am describing a live experience, specially from bands that I love and admire, but to me a live show is one of the most unique feelings out there. And I believe it works both ways. Both for us as the observers of it, but also for the artists. It is like this couple of hours you can be yourself and you can be free. You can have the music leading you to get loose. You can have the music making you smile while the musicians smile back. There ain’t no doubt that a live experience is going to make you feel like you are one step closer to your own self. Think about it the next time you are in a live show. πŸ™‚

I am really glad that I had the chance to see live such a talented band like them. The 13 year old me would be extremely proud that I am lucky to be having the chances I have through my work and my blog since it is something that I have been dreaming to do my whole life. I would not be where I am today and do what I do today, meet so talented and humble people and experience the things that I do, if it wasn’t for the music. Next time we are somewhere out, let’s all drink to that; To the power that music can have.

Here are a couple of moments that I captured on my camera both before and after the show. πŸ™‚

I hope you enjoy them as much as I did! Have a great day / night my friends! πŸ™‚
